from Jan Stotts, Dist. 1 President:
I hope everyone is safe at home this snowy day with a hot drink in one hand and a good book in the other.
The February meeting of the Kansas Authors Club will take place on Saturday, Feb.15th, upstairs in the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library. The meet-and-eat portion will begin at 11:30 am, the business meeting at 12:00 noon and the program at 12:30 pm. Meeting times are new, so note time changes!
The program last month was a planning session. We have most of this year planned out as far as programs go. We also made some serious progress on convention planning. We are going to cut it down from a three day to a two day convention, hoping to save people money on hotels and lodging. Many thanks to Max Dunavan for his work on the schedule. We still need to set up the major committees who will contribute to the planning, and we will do that at February’s meeting. To repeat a vital message from last month, as Ben Franklin (or my mother?) said, “Many hands make light work.” If we all work together, no one will be over-burdened. So please come and join a committee.
We are fortunate to have Ronda Miller (D2) and her publisher speak to us about her beautiful new children’s book. It is probably a coincidence that, we must have someone from District 2 (Lawrence) on our convention planning committee. Purely a coincidence. Hope to see you this Sat., Feb. 15!
