It is a brisk morning, and there’s no denying winter is coming. While I hate the stores rushing the holiday season, I want to give everyone a head’s up on our December meeting. It is now a tradition for the program to consist of reading works from all the attending writers and guessing who wrote which one.
So, select a piece of your writing, one page long, not specially made for the occasion, but perhaps a little different from your best-known work and email it to me at [email protected]. I am working on a way for everyone to see them without killing too many trees. It makes a great guessing game and a fun way to end the year.
Now, about our November meeting. First of all, we will elect our officers for next year. We are fortunate to have a full slate, so come and meet them. We will gather to eat and chat at 11:30 AM and the business meeting will begin at 12:15 PM. Our program, starting at 1:00 PM, will be held DOWNSTAIRS in Marvin Auditorium, 101A, at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library. We are fortunate to have Tom Cosgrove talk to us about "How to Reach the Younger Writers in our Community" through the many facets of social media, such as Linked In, etc. Of course, that will also tell us how to reach younger readers, so it should be of interest to us all. Since we are downstairs, we will have plenty of room, so feel free to invite your friends.
Finally, if you are a non-member, but still on our mailing list, please let me know if you want to continue receiving our e-mails. We want everybody who is interested to remain on our list, but if our mail is going straight to Trash, we no longer want to bug you. So, if you want to be on our list, please send a brief message saying so. If we don’t hear from you, we will remove you from our list. This notice will be in the December mailing, also, to make sure you don’t miss it.
