-D1 MEETING MINUTES: Sat., Mar. 17, 2018
“Writing During Intermissions: Two Published, Five in Flight, One in Gestation”
SPEAKER: Toni Scalia, Ph.D., author of Bitches and Abdicators, a book dealing with how women can fight back at sexual derision in America's workplaces.
This presentation covered:
Toni says this about herself:
"As an author, I am the same as I am in real life. I am a noisy thinker, a loud talker, opinionated about everything and, passionate 24/7. My writing, whether fact, faction or, fiction, has a well defined and unmistakable feminist foundation. I am a polemicist -- I love telling people what to do -- and rarely refrain from doing so. I don't try to be funny but life is and, given that I write about real life, not fantasy and not make believe, humor has a way of popping up now and again. The silliest thing that's ever been said about my writing is, 'But you can't say that,' even though what I 'can't' say is right there on the page in front of them. The best thing that's ever been said is, 'We'll publish this.'"

SPEAKER: Toni Scalia, Ph.D., author of Bitches and Abdicators, a book dealing with how women can fight back at sexual derision in America's workplaces.
This presentation covered:
- The Story Board Approach -- better known as never having writer’s block or wondering what to write next.
- Hang your book, or article, or memoir, or novel, or non fiction, or faction work on history, current events that stand the test of time, and OPB’s [other peoples’ books].
- The work of getting published is DIFFERENT from the work of writing. The 2, 3, or more people you need to know in order to get published and how to get their address, e-mail and phone number.
Toni says this about herself:
