June 17 —Topeka writer Dustyn McCormick will speak concerning his “Writing in the Genre of Urban Fantasy,” including his recently-published novel, Ragged Edge. He will review collaborations he's made with the characters his imagination dreams up, as well as collaborations with his publisher, Spellhawks Press, and cover artist, A.C. Strider.
Dustyn has lived most of his life in Topeka, Kansas. Always a voracious reader, his interest in writing started in fourth grade, where his teacher required journaling and story writing. He collects books on and studies military history, pirates, the paranormal, and any other subject that doesn’t serve a useful function. He and his wife have four children, two dogs, and a cat.
His novel, Ragged Edge, has been a success. One reader reviewed the book saying, "Dustyn has an amazing way of bringing the world from the book right into your imagination. The main character's sharp wit and sarcastic nature is amusing and it's interesting to watch his growth and struggles throughout the book. There are creatures never seen or thought of before which is refreshing and sets it apart from all the others."
Dustyn hopes to introducie his KAC audience to a new genre, and maybe a new perspective on tackling an older genres.
