Dear KAC members,
I am truly bummed to be writing this, but the longer I wait, the worse the total snow fall estimates get. Even with only a couple of inches the side streets are going to be very slick. Our speaker, Jamie Lynn Heller, lives in the Kansas City area, and I don’t want to ask her to travel that distance on bad roads. So, I am reluctantly cancelling the February meeting. I have asked our speaker if she can re-schedule for June.
For our March meeting. Melissa Fite Johnson is giving a workshop at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library on using truth (varnished or unvarnished?) in both prose and poetry. She stresses it is for all writers, not just poets. The workshop begins at 12:30 PM on March 16. We will meet at 11:30 AM for a quick lunch and/or chat, have a business meeting at 11:45 AM and attend the workshop 12:30 PM. The library would like to know how many will attend. They can use the big auditorium if necessary, so there is plenty of room, but they need to know whether to set up there or a smaller room. Please let me know, and I’ll try to give them a total in about two weeks.
