New District 1 President, Janet Stotts, shares these plans for 2019 district meetings:
Hello from your newly elected KAC , District One, president. I hope you are planning to make KAC part of your new year. We hope to have several writers from the December library event, "Great Writers, Right Here" speak to us as well as having read-arounds and friendly critique sessions. If there is anyone you would like to have present this year, please let me know.
One of my objectives for KAC is that we all help everyone who wants to see their work more widely distributed, reach that goal by sharing writing tips, good sites to submit to, and by encouraging us to view rejection, not as a negative thing (yes, it hurts), but as proof that you are trying to meet your goals.
Our meeting time and place has not changed. We still meet in the Menninger Room of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library (upstairs, room 206), at 11:30 am, for lunch from the Millennium Café and social hour. Our business meeting runs from 12:30-1:00 pm, and the program starts at 1:00 pm.
Our Sat., January 19th, program features Tara Rhiannon Bartley, the moderator of Sunflower Sutras, a literary radio program on Washburn University’s radio station. She wants to promote local writers and is always looking for people to interview and read their works on air. I hope you will join us.
