Program
I. Welcome and Introduction of Guests and New Members by president Anne Spry
II. Introduction of Program Speaker Carol Yoho on “Graphic Arts: Graphic Arts for Books.”
Carol Yoho provided a screen sharing experience with a review of a number of her own book cover designs in varying designs and why she selected the colors, graphics, and issues to consider in selecting graphics. She discussed letter, word, and spacing between the lines as well as standards for text block widths. She discussed where she obtains graphics, self provided author graphics versus purchased professional artist graphics. Carol identified at least 4 different software programs she uses for design. She finished by taking and responding to audience questions. Thank you Carol Yoho for sharing your knowledge.
Next month’s program will be on understanding “Submitable” and using the database to keep track of which writings you have submitted to contests and publishing houses. This application appears to be the new best way to enter contests. Ruth Maus uses this program, as do other authors, and believes we will benefit from knowing about and using the program.
